Chapter 1

Verse 1:
Countless legions fill the fields. Banners waving crimson and gold.
Mortals adorned with steel. Royal lords, orders to be told.
Stand fast. Brace the surge. Holding now forever gone.
Allied forces and enemies merge. Brave falling to death’s song.

For Evil’s arrogance has arrived to seize the day.
The good of light must stand on faith alone.

Details:
December 9th - Wednesday 18th:
  • Composed, tweaked, tightened, finished, etc 4 originals: "Holdin' The Line", "D2C", "His Dark Materials", and "Shadow Dust".
  • Jammed on other possible originals with various new riffs.


    • Friday, December 20th (In the Studio):
  • Spend 8pm to 4 am recording 4 songs.
  • First, we get down solid drum tracks for all 4 songs. Bass is also recorded, as well as a guitar scratch track.
  • Bass punch ins are done for any rough parts.
  • Clean and Dirty rhythm guitars are recorded.
  • All 4 songs are done for the foundation. Only lead guitar, vocals, and keys remain.


    • Wednesday, January 1st (In the Studio):
  • Spend 3pm to 7pm recording guitar and vocals.
  • Recorded lead guitars for first 4 songs. Some took 1 take, others took 4 or 5. Some were improvosed, some were prewritten.
  • Did lead vocals to "D2C", "Holdin' The Line", and "Shadow Dust".


    • January 3rd - January 16th:
  • Finished writing, fine-tuning, tightening, etc 2 originals that weren't in the first batch.


    • Friday, January 17th (In the Studio):
  • Recorded the start to 2 new songs - the Epic "Paradise Lost" Chapters 1 + 2.
  • Finished all bass, drums, and rhythm guitars. All lead/harmony guitar done but one section.


    • Monday, January 20th (In the Studio):
  • Recorded 14 keyboard parts for initial and alternate mixes.
  • Recorded one section of improvised guitar on an outro.
  • Recorded vocals for "Paradise Lost: Chapter 1" and "His Dark Materials".
  • At this point, all recordings are done. Mixing is the only thing left. More recording may take place in the future for more alternate mixes (mainly keys), but for the initial demo all recording is done.
  • Total cumulative recording time now around 25+ hours.


    • Sunday, January 26th (In the Studio):
  • Spent 5 hours mixing 1 song as a template. At least one more mixing session to go.


    • Tuesday, January 28th (In the Studio):
  • Spent 14 hours mixing all 6 songs and 3 possible alternate mixes.


    • Friday, February 7th (In the Studio):
  • Spent 8 hours mixing and mastering all songs.
